Beautiful day diving at Sylvia's today. Only bad thing was the massive amount of damage to a part of the reef from what looks like a giant anchor. I suspect a big boat pulled it. Thinking of putting the giant barrel sponge back, but don't know a good way to attach it. Any ideas? It's about 4 feet by 6 feet, and still in pretty good shape. I tried flipping some of the coral live side up, but there is way too much. The sea turtles liked it , there were 4 of them feasting on the broken bits. Hot and windy diving. Cheers

I may need help with setting that big a sponge. I was thinking of some big shark hooks and monofilament and tying down like they do trees. The concrete idea sounds more permanent though, and the sponge is still in pretty good condition. Cheers

Last thing they want is to find out another ship anchored on the reef and have to get dragged over the coals again for their failure to hold anybody accountable for the damage.

Here are some pictures of what the anchor did. Hopefully they will figure out how to secure a ship in the future. Cheers
