Any thoughts? I am deciding between those two destinations for a family vacation next week, which will include some SCUBA for me, as well as topside activities - beach, excursions, etc. for all of us together. Having a hard time deciding. The pro for me so far in Mexico is the cheaper flight, accomodations ( looking at renting villas in both locations) that are a little cheaper and a private pool. Belize is more exotic, diving conditions from what I read are more stable ( I read some threads about noreaster's closing out days for diving and I'll only be flying for a week, so five days to potentially dive minus whatever days we are doing daytrips ). This will be my second dive trip. First was a solo to Key Largo, squeeze in 11 2-tank dives in three days, loved it.
How does the diving compare between the two ( mind you I am specifically asking about Placencia, not AC )? Topside activities? Cost of activities at both?
Nightlife and dining are not an issue, won't be doing either. Traveling with two young children. Thanks in advance.
