WIU Skin Diving and SCUBA Club is hosting a underwater treasure hunt this weekend at Haigh Quarry in Kankakee, IL. Western Illinois University is the only school that offers SCUBA diving as a minor. Unfortunately, we are not being financially supported by the university. The only money that we have to upkeep our equipment and continue the program comes from this fundraiser.
Registration will be Sunday September 20th from 9am-11am. The cost to register the day of is $50.00. After registration we will let the divers loose to find eggs with numbers written on them. The numbers will correspond with a letter on a prize. We are lucky to have over 220 prizes. The prizes we are most excited about are a weeklong live-a-board cruise off the Bahamas donated by Blackbeard Cruises and a cruise to Turks and Caicos, St. Kitts, or Southern Caribbean (winners choice) donated by Explorer Ventures. After the diving we will hand out lunch and announce who won what.
