This summer was slow coming but it's blazing by now! Let's slow it down for a moment with some cold drinks and talk about diving! :chug

This month the topic will be Best Practices on various subtopics. Scheduled to present are myself (ReefHound) on boat diving, VanessaArrrr on travel, GWNDWN on photography, Earl Grey on new divers, and moderated by Heidi Ho. These aren't how-to presentations on how to dive or how to take pictures but rather tips and tricks we have accumulated over time to make the logistics easier. Newbies should learn a lot of helpful info and veterans just might learn a trick or two as well. The meeting officially starts at 7:30 pm, but get here early so we can socialize. Aaarrrrr!!!

This month the topic was Best Practices on various subtopics. Small presentations were made by myself (ReefHound) on boat diving, VanessaArrrr on aspects of travel, GWNDWN on photography, Earl Grey on tips for new divers, and moderated by Heidi Ho. Vanessa shared what she has learned over the years such as packing light but smart, bringing enough cash, and making sure documentation is in order. Marc shared his experiences with working with lots of new divers in becoming a DM such as the need to keep practicing your skills and trying out different gear to find what's right for you. Reefhound outlined the key differences between big liveaboards and tiny day boats, how critical space is on a boat, being safe and considerate, and tipping!!! Ryan shared some of his hard lessons in triple checking housing o-rings, how other divers can avoid disturbing the photogs underwater and blowing their shot, but also how photogs need to know it's not all about themselves and consideration goes both ways.

After the meeting, we had some cool door prizes, thanks to the folks at EEZYCUT. Each goodie bag had 2 retail units of EEZYCUTS and a T-shirt. The CEO/inventor was a cave and cenote guide in Mexico and thinks he guided some CHUMmers a few years ago. Small world. Winners were hebep, McLot, and Earl Grey.

See the meeting pics in the Gallery.

Below, GWNDWN relives the moment of his first major camera flood.
