Hi all,

In need bit of help. Just noticed the oil pressure gauge on the shops K15 swinging like crazy. I don't really know how to explain it so I took a short video.

I am going to do an oil change to see if that helps.

There is no noticeable change in time in filling the tanks.

Any suggestions? I am stuck in Honduras and have very limited spares with me here and to make it worse we have just started our busy season!

Cheers
Rich

Hi Jim,

I do have a new gauge kicking around so will swap that over and at least that is one option ruled out.

Here is the link for the video on Youtube

So I have just changed the oil pressure gauge and it has made a huge difference. I made another little video so you can see the difference.

K15 New Oil Gauge - YouTube

If I remember correctly there was always some fluctuation since we have had the compressor (about 3 years). I will still do the oil change.
Do you think there is an underlying issue here?

I know that the sight tube on the K15 can discolor making it hard to see inside, but can you tell if air is passing through the tube? If so, the final piston may be allowing air to blow back. This will show as fluctuation on the gauge. The oil regulator could also be the problem. The regulator acts as a relief valve, venting off at the set point. If the spring wears out, it can cause fluctuation as seen on the gauge.

Thanks, I'll get an oil regulator service kit order and see what happens.
This is an older K15 and I can't seem to see a sight tube on this block.

Ok so here is the update. Check out the video - pretty self explanatory why I was getting problems.
Luckily my wife was in the US so I had a master rebuild kit overnighted to her. It is currently in the process of being installed by a local guy. Hopefully we will have it up and running today!
