    Bauer Junior questions

what would be the life expectancy of a Bauer Junior 220 volt compressor; year on compressor is 1994 and was used for personal use.

what would that compressor be worth?

we are looking at buying a used one.

cost to maintain, issues we should consider....

    Thanks in advance!

Biggest issue with this unit is that it will kick off if it gets too hot. I have one and that is my only issue. If you are filling and the ambient temp is above 80, it might very well trip the thermal overload on the electric motor.

I'd be looking for a power source problem. These machines should be able to operate in 100 F ambient and I know of many that are operated (against recommedations) in 120 F ambient. Even with the cheap motors they are sent out with. Those overloads should not trip at 80 F ambient and usually activate on excessive amperage draw, which creates the overheating in the motor.

The worth of any compressor is based on the condition it is in and whether it has been taken care of properly. The machine you are asking about is the first version of the Junior. Probably has a painted steel fan cover. They were not produced for very long and were replaced with the Junior II. I have seen units that are 10-15 years old in mint condition and I have seen units that were scrap in 6 months. When new, I believe the Junior E1 sold for around $2700.00 and gas units around $2900.00.
