    Computer or analog console?

I just got my open water certification and was thinking about getting some of my own equipment since I plan on doing lots of diving. I have determined that I want to definately get the Apeks ATX200 thanks to Woden. Like him I plan on doing cold water diving, ice diving, warm water, nitrox, etc.. However I am having issues on trying to decided if I want to get a BC w/regulator and a analog console and a octo(??), or just regulator and dive computer w/octo (??) and wait for awhile on the BC. Unfortunately cannot have everything I want so I need some advice on which way I should go. Also, if I do go for the dive computer, what is a decent, reasonably priced, and not so complex dive computer. Any advice would be great. Thanks!!

Nothing enhances the dive experience more than a computer.

Just casual advice......don't count exclusively on a computer. Know where You are and how much time on the dive is a matter of saving Your life. B

To get into a nitrox computer in your console, should only add about $200 to your package... For that amount... I'd say definately go for a computer.

Scubatoys, that is what i was wanting to do. By what I hear and based on your screen name you are they guy from Scubatoys.com. What console computer would you suggest? I am leaning toward getting the dive computer since this weekend I saw a lot of people (dive intructor and assistants) with dive computers and they seem to be very handy, as well as what people have about liking them here on the board. Thanks!

Probably one of the best deals now is the Oceanic Versa Pro console. By the time we package it with other gear, then kick in your scubaboard discount - it will probably cost you under $300 - and just a plain analog gauge with pressure, depth and compass will run you $100 and change - so it's really less than $200 to step up to a nitrox computer with audible alarms.

Of all the computers out there, these will have the largest displays and are the easiest to use - very intuitive menu system.
