My wife and I own identical Suunto Cobra computers which have functioned flawlessly for years. As we emerged from the water after a recent shore dive, both computers started malfunctioning simultaneously. They were beeping constantly, displaying various depths between 0 and 30 feet, and giving us fast ascent warnings. We then noticed a mobile radio station transmission tower set up near the shore line. When we removed the computers from the vicinity, they settled down to a "normal" state. We assume the radio transmissions somehow scrambled the internal software.

Has anyone else encountered this behaviour? Does anyone know if we now need to have the internal software reprogrammed?

take them to Divers Supply, they can "dive" the units in a small pressure chamber they have and compare with a "virgin" unit.

excellent, they took care of you I assume?

No, I ran into Urs, the owner of Divers World and the guy who sold me the computer. He didn't think it would be an ongoing problem, so I dived it (cautiously) and he was right.

I know Urs and Judy and Chris Danby well. Good call on the cautious aspect!:D
