I am fairly new to scuba, and I was wondering what the feelings were about air integrated computers? My brother has been using the Aeris AI and seems to like it.
I have an Aeris Atmos AI. Have been using it for a few years now, and I am very happy with it. AI versus wrist mounted computers is a personal preference. I prefer not to have anything on my wrists because I do a lot of hunting / Lobster diving.
Been using the Atmos AI for over a year, and I really like it. However, I did end up buy a second wrist mounted computer for quicker checking of depth and NDL.
Mike I also use the Aeris Atmos Ai. It is very easy to use and see while diving. Mine came with a quick release and compass. If you look around you can find some good deals. Good Luck on which ever puter you choose.
Great computer, I love mine too. A bit more liberal than the Suunto Cobra. The Oceanic Pro Plus 2 and Sherwood Wisdom are the same exact unit with different packaging -- I know you can get really good deals on the Oceanic right now online.
The Suunto PC software is better, but I really like the Aeris display (only 1 bottom time remaining number to look at) and it also has more alarm options than the Suunto.
Finally, the battery is easily replaceable, which ruled out the UWATEC Smart Com for me.
I love my Aeris AI and recommend it highly. If you're considering it, definitely get the QD feature (quick disconnect). It is much more convenient to be able to take your computer off your regs, and will keep it from getting banged around.
That said, if I were buying a computer today, I'd likely be looking at one of the hoseless models (either Aeris or Oceanic), and may upgrade to one of them next year and keep my Aeris AI as my backup.
