I was taking apart my console for S&G (and to check o-rings), and saw that inside my boot was what appeared to be a steel and glass pressure gauge. Is this materially (pardon) different to a brass and glass?

I seriously doubt it is steel, it is chrome plated brass with either a glass or Plexi bezel.
