Question Need opinions on Oceanic Veo 100

    Hi fellow divers,

I recently got back to the water after a looong period of hiatus. I serviced my BCD and Regulators, everything seems to be fine, but they told me the dive computer needs a new battery that only the manufacturer can replace that for me, and it will burn another AUD$150... I didnt think it's worth it. Since, I'm just getting back to recreational diving, I want to make sure that I will stick this time before I invest in high end computer range.

Anywho....I found this Oceanic Veo 100 selling for $150. What are your opinions? Have any of the divers own this? I don't need fancy computers, just the essentials are sufficient.

    Thank you

According to the Veo 100 manual you can replace the battery yourself. You can find the Veo 100 manual HERE.

I think he means that the comp he has now is not equipped with a user changeable battery.

The VEO 100 can't be used for Nitrox (Unless it's specifically the Veo 100 nx) - something to consider

I used one as a rental for a week during the summer. It's a decent little computer, but as has been mentioned, it doesn't do nitrox. Having only one button is kinda annoying in my mind because if you click past a setting or a dive in the log, you have to go all the way around again, but I guess it's something you'd get used to. Underwater the screen navigation is alright, I think there were 3 screens, anything you need at any given time is on the main screen, nice to know was on the second (like temp and actual time) if i recall correctly. It's also quite easy to read and understand what's what. It's a basic computer with no bells or whistles (literally, there are no audible alarms), no planning or download features and there is no backlight.

All that being said, it gave me what I wanted, constantly updated NDLs, so I can't really complain. I'm currently considering getting a Veo 2.0 or 3.0 since I imagine it has a similar display layout, but with nitrox, more features and extra buttons (but obviously a higher price)
Procrastinate now, don't put it off.

Back in the Bahamas May 24.

Looks like it's a decent computer. I think I might get it, as I'm currently doing only recreational diving. Thanks for the opinions! Any chance recommending a shop (online shop) in US? Australian prices are all double!

    Thanks again!
