We would like to announce that in the near future, Shearwater Research will start offering our version of VPM-B on our products.
We have been listening to the market and it is clear to us that there is a large group of divers who like VPM-B and are using it successfully to do decompression dives. Since we have always believed that both GF and VPM-B can be used successfully, we will now give VPM-B divers access to Shearwater products.
We don't have any dates yet, but we have hired one of the mathematicians that was involved in VPM in the early days and we are working on it now. We plan to do a rigorous mathematical evaluation of the algorithm as it is published and expand it to cover the areas that are not specified to produce our implementation.
I almost bought one last week, but I just can't get over the size. I plan on moving into ccr in the next few years so I thought I would go ahead and get one as it would become a backup when I go for the meg.
I have small wrists and just could not get over the size... in the end, and at my current level I just got a cochran. When I do go full ccr I'll likely go with shearwater, but by then I'm sure it will come down in size as everybody else is smaller.
I know its kinda a dumb rant, but it did influence my decision. The logging, size, and desktop integration played the biggest influence. I like analyst pro... even though it is "old-school" it just works.
Please, please, please work on the logging and size as it will make shearwater a no-brainer for me when the time comes... then I'll buy 2 of em

We might be able to make it a bit smaller at some point, but it has a 2.4" OLED. The screen is 2-3 times bigger than most of the other computers on the market. Much as would would like to, we can't make the computer smaller than the OLED display :-)
What is the issue with logging? We have native Windows and OSX logging supplied free of charge. There is nothing to buy. What is the problem?
We have just started to get some feedback on logging on the cave forum.
No one has ever mentioned this to us.
We listen to our customers and are happy to make changes to our products. But we need to know what you want. If you have suggestions, by all means contact us and tell us what you want!
