    Face protector for Suunto Stinger

    Guys,

I just bought a Suunto Stinger. Pretty sweet toy. Now I'm looking to buy a face protector for it so it doesn't get scratched up when I dive. I was told that the generic face protector made by Suunto wouldn't fit Stinger since its bazel is so large. Any ideas where I can get one that would fit the Stinger? It'd be great if it was something I could get online.

    Thanks.

    -Alex

    Mine already got scratched!!!

I use my stinger very frequently as a matter of fact sometimes I keep it on and use it as a regular watch.

I banged it on a wreck dive and it now has a short but deep scratch on the glass, will also appreciate any ideas/solutions for fixing this.

I also found this thread that addresses this issue, take a look

You can improvize a protector with a piece of sellotape

Sellotape comes in many sizes- you need one that is wide enough so you can make a protective cover from one piece. Use scisors and cut a piece with the correct size and shape of your computer.
Put it on top of the computer's glass, making sure there are no air bubbles beneath it. That's all. It won't come off in water, at least not in several hundreds of dives.

Great Tip. I just received a Stinger for Christmas and am afraid to wear it as a "normal" watch because of possibly damaging it.

I'll look for the tape that you mention. Thanks!

I went to the Suunto site and ordered a set of face protector's and it fits just fine. I haven't got it wet yet, but will post the results.

They come in set's of two and I think I paid $12.95 for them.

I would say try the tape 1st. Fine silt and grit gets trapped between the face and the protector. This actually creates a fine sanding effect You will notice this after several dives in less than clear water.
