Hey there!

I have a Suunto Cobra 3, but because I am paranoid, I would like some redundancy. I would prefer a wrist-computer and I really like the Suunto graphics and conservative algorithms.

I am able to get the D6i for $1,000 (WITH the new transmitter with the led light). This is about $400 off of the list price (one of my dive shops is running a special).

The D6i appears to be the closest (in how to use it) as my Cobra 3. Plus it has a compass, which I like.

Questions: any reason why I should not buy the D6i? Are they updating it soon?

Unless you are a rich man I wouldn't spend that amount on a back up. A new or even second hand Zoop in a Deep Sea Supply bungee mount would cost a fraction of the cost, although wrist mount not watch style so obviously bigger. Personally I'd buy a Zoop and spend the change on more diving. Good luck with your decision.
