    Apeks computer

Any opinions about Apeks computers? (Beside, get a bottom timer and use your brain.)

They're the same as the Dive Rite Nitek Duo. We've had a pair of the Apeks for a couple of months and really like them. large clear display, very easy to read underwater.

Having a second gas mix is very handy. Did our first deco dive the other week, and did the deco on nitrox 70. Setting up the second gas is easy, and switching is just push and hold a button. Deco times recalculate immediately.

Backlight works well, push any button and the who display lights up, for a few seconds. Backlight also comes on if there is a warning so you get visual flashes at night, which is good if it's a noisy environment.

Not quite as conservative as the Suunto's, but close, more conservative that the uwatecs, which I think is a good thing.

There will be a download kit eventually, but it's not out yet.

Really like ours, would buy another tomorrow if I lost it.

    I don't think you'll be disappointed.

    Cheers,

    J.

PS. It was cheaper than the equivalent Suunto too. I got ours from Godive in the UK. Good service, great price.

I didn't know that they were selling them in the US. I thought Dive Rite had the US rights and Apeks had outside the US. Where are you buying it from? LDS or internet?

As mentioned, I bought from GoDive in the UK (United Kingdom), their website is http://godive.net/

I'm in Borneo, so the US isn't a handy place to buy things. It was cheaper to get the Apeks model from the UK than the Dive Rite model from the US.

Freeflyer, I was asking "evad" the question. Since your profile shows that you are outside the US and the silly rules that AquaLung has about on-line sales I can understand buying fom an non-US vendor.

    Be safe.

I just bought the Apeks version in Canada. ... and really like it.

You can buy the same computer branded as Tusa online in the U.S.

    Or as DiveRite on diveriteexpress.com

One note is that the PC interface kit is not released yet. The Mfg has been saying "in a month" since August.
