    Which Rebreather To Buy?

    Which rebreather should I buy?

Professional rebreather diver and instructor Jill Heinerth often gets asked to recommend a particular brand of rebreather to an individual. Her first response is… “it depends.” We are fortunate to finally have several great choices available in the marketplace.

Ask yourself the following questions to narrow the field:
    What are your diving goals?
    What is your budget?
Will you need support for service and parts?
    Is there adequate/local training available?
    Do you want modular design?
Investigate size, weight and configuration of rig, back-up requirements & buoyancy specs.

    Features:

    Are these important to you?…
    Work of breathing
    Scrubber duration
    Stability of oxygen control
Computer algorithm / built in deco?
    Independent testing (CE rating)
    ISO standards
    Transport / importability

    Things we forget:

Is this unit neutral - how much lead do I need?
How much redundancy will I need to be safe?
Will the manufacturer be here next year?
How far must I go for service? Can I ship?
I be able to travel with this unit?
Is it within airline size and weight restrictions?

If you want more information contact Jill on ScubaBoard @ RebreatherPro.
