  • DAN Celebrates June as Dive Safety Month

Divers Alert Network® (DAN®) supports the National Safety Council in promoting safety awareness throughout June. As DAN is Your Dive Safety Association®, the organization plans special campaigns and educational activities, taking the lead in the promotion of Dive Safety Month.

“While DAN promotes safety every day,” said DAN President Dan Orr, “we’re dedicating the month of June to increasing dive safety awareness among the public. We will inform, educate and engage people through our social media vehicles as well as our website.”

Among the activities planned are two live chats with DAN experts on the DAN Facebook page. The discussion will be “Establishing a Culture of Dive Safety” on June 13 and “Dive Accident Management” on June 26. The chats will take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. EDT. DAN will share topic-related resources in the days preceding the discussion so readers can become familiar with the topic and prepare questions.

The public will also have the opportunity to interact with and enhance their knowledge of dive safety by visiting the DAN Facebook and Twitter pages daily and the DAN website at www.DAN.org.

DAN is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) scuba safety organization whose mission is to help divers in need with medical emergency assistance and to promote dive safety through research, education, products and services. DAN’s vision, “striving to make every dive accident- and injury-free,” is to be the most recognized and trusted organization worldwide in the fields of dive safety and emergency services, health, research and education by its members, instructors, supporters and the recreational diving community at large.

The DAN Emergency Hotline (+1-919-684-9111) is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to assist with medical emergencies and to provide medical evacuation services. DAN also provides a Medical Information Line (+1-919-684-2948) during normal business hours for nonemergency questions.

The largest association of recreational divers in the world, DAN is supported by membership dues anddonations. For more information, visit www.DAN.org.
