Hello Everybody
I'm kinda new to this message board thing so I thought I'd just let everyone who reads this know a little bit about me and see what happens.
I've been diving for about 20 years various types and various places. For the last six years I have been working full time in Belize,Central America. I've worked on all the Liveaboards here and in the three most common dive areas so if anyone would like hints tips advice or comment just e-mail me or I guess respond to the thread.
Thanks
Raffles

Hello Raffles,
Welcome to the boards, we're glad you're here, and would love to hear more about Belize diving.

I'll be escorting a group of divers from this board down to Belize December 2nd through the 9th. We'll be staying at the beautiful Tropica Beach Resort in San Pedro. Perhaps you could come out and dive with us! It's always great to put a face to a post!

There will be more info on this trip very soon on the Scubasource front page.

You've come to the right place, it can be pretty lonley even in Belieze. But we are here to end your problems, well almost.

I see in your profile you are interested in diving medicine. You will find a wealth of diving medicine here along with some of the brightest minds in the field. (Boy talk about suckin up).

Ask any question and somebody will give you an answer or if they don't know they will find out.

Welcome to the board

Welcome Raffles, I'm new to this board myself! But I've found it to be a great place to swap ideas and find people that are also addicted to diving :p

I do have some questions about Belize. I've wanted to travel there for the last 10 years. My wife and I are thinking of spending a week there for our 20th this coming December.

I was thinking of 4 nights at Manta Resort as a real get away from it all kind of place, and of course diving! Then 2 or three nights at the Maruba Spa (more for her than me). I figure if I can show her that you can travel to exotic dive destinations AND get pampered, there might be more trips to Papua or Palau etc.. :tease:

So, what can you tell me about those two destinations?

Raffles,
This is my first day to find this board. Been on some of those other boards for years. My wife and I just reserved a week in August aboard Peter Hughes' Wave Dancer. Selected Peter Hughes over the others based on recommendations of friends. What do you think? Did we make a wise choice? Would like to hear any of your comments about what we might expect, good or bad.

Hello Chuck, welcome to the boards. We're glad that you found us! As for Peter Hughes, I've had a couple of friends dive with them before as well and they loved it. They certainly have a good reputation. Have fun, and be sure to take some pictures you can share with us less fortunate ones!

Hello Chuck
Good choice, I worked on the Wavedancer for a little while and I have to say that for food, accomodation, service and choice of diving you couldn't have made a better choice of a liveaboard in Belize. Also August is a very good month to dive here, weather is good, water is warm and the chances of bad weather diminishing the tan are negligible.
Hope you enjoy.

You must be planning the same trip. My wife and I are wanting to stay at Manta on Glover's Reef then end our trip possibly at Maruba Spa.

Do you have any advice or good sources of information? I think we are going in October.

Have your heard that this is the best spot for diving? We have also been told that lighthouse is good. We want something really remote and excellent diving!

I am new on this site as of today and it seems very informative! My wife and I are planning a trip to Belize and we picked October because of recent advice. How are the masquitos in August? We are planning to stay at Manta Resort on Glover's Attol.

Any recommendations on thing we must see in our short week long trip in Belize? We are somewhat adventurous and really want to see the "true" Belize!
