Does anyone know if you can buy this locally? www.buyseasafe.com

I've heard it works well and if I can buy it in Cozumel I'd rather do that

Thanks

Well, I may as well pipe in here. I think you can get it from the really high-class online store I know. Use the link below to go directly to the product. Thanks.

Safe Sea Jellyfish Protectant Lotion and Suntan Lotion

P.S....This stuff is amazing. It lives up to every claim made.

You might check your LDS or a water sports store. I think you can get it in Coz but it's going to be more expensive than if you buy it at home.
I've heard great things about it but have never tried it. I always wear a full wetsuit anyway, so when I go during thimble jelly season, I just add the
step of rubbing vaseline on my neck and hands, unless I wear gloves. I got that tip from a DM--and it works! Much cheaper too....

Hi jbjclj,

You might find the following article informative:

Dealing With Sea Bather's Eruption (SBE)
http://www.awoosh.com/Doc Vikingo's Resource Page/SBE.htm

At the end of that article you'll find a link to a review of SeaSafe.

I have not seen it for sale in Coz, but you can purchase it online at the sites below:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref...35-5524015?search-alias=aps&keywords=sea safe

Some drug stores in the USA do carry it, so you can call around your neighborhood if you like.

Have fun in Coz.

Thanks All

I was trying to avoid buying online because the shipping charges were $9-10 dollars for a 4oz bottle ($12.50), but I checked Amazon after Doc's suggestion and their shipping was $3.95. So we will be ready for the jellies in May.

Hi Cheryl,

But there's more to getting along with thimble jelly larvae than SeaSafe.

Did you find the linked article helpful?

Well, I certainly did. Hmmm... I think I'll get a bottle of this stuff to use on night dives. One of my teaching sites is like a haven for stinging things when the sun goes down. Afterwards, everybody fights over the benadryl.

Using sunscreen for a night dive... Outstanding!

I found the article very interesting as well. With a trip scheduled in May, I will invest in SeaSafe. It also made my choice of wetsuit for me. Forget the shorty, I will wear the 3/2 and just let water in as necessary to cool off.

One question for Doc though...I saw the recommendation for tight seals on wrist and ankles, but what about hair? Do you always wear a hood? I hate them, but that would seem to be the only way to keep larvae out? (with the exception of avoiding them altogether!)

Absolutely agree with the article and do follow your procedures. We spent about 10 minutes at a safety stop in Utila last year just hanging and waiting for an opportunity, even purging didn't help.. I figure this is just a good protective measure. Thanks

Hi Carolina Diver,

Sadly, hair is one of the favorite points of attachment on the body, including around the nape of the neck and ears. A snug but not suffocating hood would be a prudent precaution, especially if there's a heavy infestation or you're sensitive.
