Hey y'all! I wanted to jump and and give a quick update on the two new wrecks in Cozumel. As you prolly know they sank the 2 boats on June 4th, outside of the marine park, between Sedena and the downtown ferry pier. Both boats are sitting upright and have a max depth of about 35 feet, with about 15 feet under the water.
Rita, Burak, Steve and I jumped into the boat on Saturday and did a quick one-tank dive on them just to see how they were progressing. I was really pleased to see that many small fishies are beginning to call it home. I even saw one big lobster. While they're not technically cleared for entry (nor do they have a guide line) you can get in, and have a nice swim around.
They're also close enough that you can swim from one to the other and do both on the same tank. Rumor had it that there was a strong current there, however, I didn't find it to be that bad.
I'd reccommend it, and I think in a few months, it'll really be great.
We took a camera, and Rita is in the process of uploading the shots onto her webpage (www.albatroscharters.com) if anyone is interested in taking a quick look.
Happy Bubbles!
