I'm a Fish!
Oct 2 Cozumel Insider:

"After more than 30 years in existence, the Acuario restaurant located on Melgar at 11th across from Neptuno Disco, is being demolished to make way for a new restaurant named “Margaritaville.” When the original owner opened, the restaurant's feature was it's aquarium which held many types of marine animals including nurse sharks and turtles. In one of the interior remodeling projects a lobster tank was installed. After damages from hurricanes over the years such as Gilbert, Keith, Opal, Roxanne and Wilma, the damages were so extensive that it was decided to demolish the building and rebuild completely. Margaritaville, which is a restaurant chain owned by Jimmy Buffet, decided to rent the building to open a new branch of the chain. The restaurant features American and International food including hamburgers and steaks and will also feature the music of Jimmy Buffet along with, of course, its signature drink ~ the Margarita."

got this from another board.....:D

I walked by the remains of Acuario on Monday. It kinda made me sad, I really enjoyed that place. I was hoping they would re-open it. Eitherway, I would rather see a local business open there than an American chain, but I guess this is better than Kentucky Fried Chicken or something.

Mixed feeling here...as a Parrot Head, that part of me is jumping for joy! I can stock up on new JB T's without having to go to Key West or New Orleans, or wondering if what I order on-line will fit or not. Plus, they have very good food, not that that is a problem by any means on Coz, in Key West we had some of the best calamari we've ever had.

The old school Cozumel "purest", part of me is cringing, DOH! Well, I guess if you can't stop progress, you might as well have one of your favorite places move in.

Actally when I read on-line that one was opening in Turks, I was wondering how long it would take before they got to Coz, it's just way too popular.

Well now I guess when I'm wasted away in Margaritaville while on Coz, I can be wasted away AT Margaritaville.
Well if you can't stop commercialism, might as well bring it in with quality.

squarepants:
I wonder when they are expecting to have it up and running.

What it a Parrot Head?

Ever heard of a DeadHead...that is a person who follows and lives and breathes the Grateful Dead (Gordon are you out there).....so a Parrothead follows lives breathes the lifestye and all that is brought with it of Jimmy Buffett....I have been one for about 30yrs but I am in recovery now:wink:

I have been to the Margaritaville in Key West and everything on the menu is mucho dinero!
I'm not big on paying big bucks for commercialism, even though I really do like Jimmy Buffett.
Its sad to see Aquario go!

Best wishes to Margaritaville....However, I'll stick to the local places...Sue Sue

I visited a Margaritaville in Ocha Rios Jamaica and Montego Bay Jamaica last year. The food was great the drinks potent and the clothing souvineers were top quality. I think it is a perfect chain to open in Cozumel!! I look forward to spending my american dollars there. Anyone know when they will be open? I will be in town in November.....

We visited Margaritaville in Las Vegas last month, nice, but pricy. As much as I like JB and margaritas, this might be taking commercialism to it's extreme?
