Going on a cruise and stopping in Cosumel... Who are the best Charters?

Thanks I was hoping someone could give advice on a charter they have taken and had a good experience with dive site and quality of service. World peace not requirred.

Timing might be a problem the ship most likely comes in after the morning 2 tank dives go out. We dove with and recommend Blue xt Sea but they leave about 8:00am but they may have something in the afternoon.

Aqua Safari seemed to have trips throughout the day and their shop is right downtown by one of the cruise docks. there seems to be people on scuba board who recommend them.

Dive Paradise and Papa Hogs seem to come up frequently also.

Once you are in coz you will realize that one day is just not enough!

Like stevenq99 mentioned, timing will be an issue for you if you're arriving on a cruise. You'll have to find a dive operator who leaves later, or is willing to have a late departure for you.

There have been a few recent threads by cruise divers. Just do a search for "cruise ship," "cruise" or scroll back a few pages and you'll find them.

I haven't used any of these dive operators personally, but cruisers on the board have had good luck arranging dive trips with Scuba with Alison, Scubatony, Papa Hogs and Blue Angel.

You should also head over to the roll call boards on cruisecritic.com and see if you can find other divers on your cruise who would be interested in doing a charter with you. If you can get 5 or 6 divers then you'd be able to get pretty much any small boat operator to do a 2-tank trip on your schedule, if they are not already booked.

We've dove in Coz from a number of cruises - pretty much use Scuba with Alison. She tries to adapt her schedule whenever possible to our arrival .... we'll be there again on 12/14 and this time we have enough divers with us to fill her boat ...

She a great DM, runs a safe boat, and is a ton of fun to boot!!!

I'll second Scuba with Alison. She has a very fast boat and treats her divers very well.

I've dove with Alison before...she rocks!!

What cruise line?
That will make a difference. We went on Carnival this past summer and could not find a charter that would schedule us since we would have to tender to shore. We took the ship's excursion, Sand Dollar Sports. Not bad but you are hustled in and out, sorta. At least you do get to dive in Coz, which is wonderful, and the ship will not go off and leave you. Diving from a cruise ship just give a taste of what it would be like to really dive. The other poster who siad "one day is not enough" is quite right.
