This was our 4 trip to Cozumel, and our second since the hurricane. Our last trip was Nov 2006. All I have to say is good news. The last two times we stayed at Hotel Cozumel and dove with Dive Paridise. The hotel is in better shape then the last time.
And every night starting around 9pm they have a show by the pool, weather permitting,
which is sometimes pretty funny. They really try hard to make every show good. The food is better than 2006. Sometimes you might not like what's on the buffet at lunch, well there is always the grill to get beef or chicken fajitia. This is not a 5 star hotel but I am in Cozumel to dive and we always seem to meet good people there. The staff is friendly and helpful the rooms have good and bad things, but I'm am not a picky person.
Now for the diving since that is why I go. Wake up people the diving is so much better than 2006. Lots of turtles, we almost saw one turtle on every dive which was 11 in all. Sometimes we saw 2 or 3 at a time. Our favorite shallow dive was Dalila reef this time we saw, nurse shark, 3 turles, arrow crabs with a goatee blenny. Well I didn't know that the goatee blenny was in the pic's untill after we got home, but it was a great find anyway. Paridise reef seem to have more sea life on it than before and two sea horses were there as well. Our faviorite deep dives of the week were Palancar gardens and pinnicles. Both great dives, the swim throughs were fun but sometimes I let everyone else go through while I look for things on top just follow the bubbles. I did one night dive in front of the hotel with great success, octo, school of reef squid, bridled burrfish, and lobsters. The current was relaxing not to fast nor slow but at a good speed so you could look at things. My wife refers to Cozumel like speed reading at times you either get it or not. For those heading down I need to tell you that my computer had temps at 74 at 90 ft and 75 several times at 84 ft. For the first time I took the fast boats, now I know why people take them. You get back to the hotel for lunch faster, lol. I will add pic's by tonight so you can see what we believe is a goatee blenny.

Thanks for your report. I love diving in a slallow reef ,such as Paradise and Dalila, too.
And goatee blenny....I think that I've never seen before. I will let my wife, macro lover and crazy for blenny in Coz, look your pics.
Please upload your pics in your own homepage/blog or Photogallaly of SB.
And then can you find "insert image" button or "Insert Link" button on top of message area?
Water temp of 75? That's really strange. Average temp in late Jan. is usually 78-80, in fact I recorded a couple of 82's at this time last year (it's an annual trip).
You've got me concerned. I'm leaving for Cozumel in the morning and I've packed a full 3 mil. but 75 might mean I'll need my 5. What did you wear?
I was only in a skin and was somewhat cold. My wife was in a 3 and she froze. She gets cold easy and I don't. I thought it was strange too but that is what my computer read and printed out.
You know dive computers can be four or five degrees off. I just checked with someone down there and they reported 80 yesterday. Think we'll just stay with our 3 mils. Thanks for responding.
