I'm loosing sleep now! I'm on island Jan 23 until Feb13. I use a dc800/2strobes. I would like one lesson to at least get me shooting a little better. My photos are fun now, I always want to learn, maybe the teacher might have ideas on bouyancy I'm not aware of, who knows. Also I want to learn how to post my pics here. I have tried but I dont understand computer geek, let alone computer camera geek speak. The instructions need to be so simple my 3 year old grandson would say thats easy I can do that. This is how bad it is for me I am watching the weather channel in Edmonton, it's on the Cozumel temp site. Right now at 10am my time it's 22c there going to 26c, I've got goose bumps.

and then you do this to add photos here. (I wrote this for another forum & have modified it where it's wrong for this one & hopefully didn't miss anything).
Perhaps I can help with the biggest part of linking your photos. Firstly you need to upload them to an on line photo sharing site, which aren't too hard to find, but my favourite is Picasa Web Albums, which is free & comes with some excellent editing software. Once you have an on line album uploaded you then go into it and do the following.
Once that's done you select photos (one at a time) to link to sites like this that allow it by doing the following.
With the photo showing on your screen right click on it to bring up a menu box, and select (right click then left click) PROPERTIES.
Place your mouse over the ADDRESS line in the PROPERTIES box, right click to bring up another menu, and click on SELECT ALL, then right click & select COPY.
AT this site or any other that allows adding photos to a message find the INSERT IMAGE icon, (here it's the second one from the right) and click on it to bring up the place to paste the address you copied. (you may have to delete anything already in the box before pasting your info into it). Repeat for others.
THIS is a sample address from Picasa, with a method to enlarge the image to a bigger size in the message, but each site has a max width so you need to remember not to get too carried away. http://lh5.ggpht.com/cicopo/RwRc12zJ...6/IMG_3557.JPG
NOTE the s576/ just before the file number (IMG #). IF you delete the 576 and type in 800 or maybe 1000 the photo will be 800 pixels wide, or 1000 pixels wide.
Hope you understand that, but if not ask and we will try.
I recently got the Sea life DC800 camera. My local dive shop offers classes in digital underwater photography. I purchased the PADI book which is to be read before the classroom. Unfortunately I have had some major schedule glitches at work and have not attended any of the classes. The book however, has been a tremendous help. I saw a vast improvement in my pictures from my Grand Cayman trip just from reading the book alone. I would see if your local dive op has classes. People who took the class here got to practice in a pool with various objects so they can adjudt their strobe, exposure etc. Someday I will attend. Seeing that you are leaving soon, you could read the book during your flight!

You could "try" Christi at BlueXTSea Diving. She's an excellent photography instructor, as well as, a PADI MSDT. I say "try," only because she also owns and runs BlueXTSea, so depending on what's going on at the time she might not be able to do instruction. I'd shoot her an email to find out. I think she'd try her best to do it (if for no other reason than to be able to get out and do some diving). And the UW-photo knowledge she has would make it well worth it.

Hi! This reads easy for me, thank-you so much. I just printed it off and I will be playing tonight. I do have some cool shots that I would like to share. I love looking at all the pics the other divers do. Thanks again for taking the time to write that, speaks loudly about ya.

Send a quick Email to sealife Denise she is very helpful and will tell you the right settings for your camera. The strobes are very strong so do not be scared to power them down a bit
One thought came to mind overnight that may cause you some grief when trying to add your photos to sites like this. Internet Explorer can prevent uploading or linking photos due to security settings that are very hard to set by you to over-ride what some genius at Microsoft thinks is best for you. If you find yourself unable to open the "insert image" box and are using Internet Explorer as your browser download, install, & switch to Firefox for the job. Too bad your not staying for another week. You could join my underwater photo workshop at Scuba Club. Its free to all guests at the resort. In the 5-day workshop we cover all those things you're asking about. Sometimes it easier to have someone who knows how to do what you want to learn show you rather than trying to read it out of a book. We've had a lot of people with that same camera join us for past workshops. You can see detailed info from my March 2008 workshop here. I do them twice a year, so maybe you can catch us next time.
We definitely recommend a buoyancy check, which we'll do for free if someone is in doubt and offer tips for improvement if needed. Most people are OK, but don't always think about the added distraction carrying a camera adds.
If Armando from Island Photo is still on the island you might also get in touch with him.
Yes I read about your gig coming up after I leave, just my bad timing. I would love to be taking it in. Just doing it to see how other divers are learning would help. But thanks for the name, I will look him up. I trust and hope you have good weather for your program. kev

Hi FirstDive 2005,
Besides being an avid Cozumel junkie, I also teach a basic UW photo course for new divers &/or beginning photographers. I put together a manual for taking good photos right away, without having to learn about f-stops, ISOs, arpertures, shutter speeds, etc. Not that you shouldn't learn those things eventually, but in teaching the course, students kept saying, "I just want to take a nice picture." Hence the need for a simple manual.
I consider the manual to be in "beta" or test mode, since I am still revising it, so I'd be happy to send you an email copy if you'd like, no charge. My email address is on my websites, below my signature. Contact me and I'll be happy to send you a copy.
