If you are diving with Aldora (as mentioned in a previous post) then all three are an easy walk to the pier plus they will handle all your gear so it will be on your boat and ready to go. I am at the Mexicana this week and have stayed at the Bahia Suites. The Bahia is nice however if you are staying at the Presedente I think for the slight increase in cost that you would most likely prefer the Mexicana...a 3 minute walk to the Aldora pier and a 10 minute walk to El Cantil and Primas.
We love El Cantil, but if you're only looking at the "studio" rooms, I wouldn't bother. Not worth it. They're really just a bedroom with a mini fridge and a bathroom and you have no ocean view. You'll be on the street side.
Spend a little more on a 1bdrm and you won't regret it. Ocean front balcony, living room & full kitchen, bedroom and a nice bathroom. (It's been our experience that if we request a 1 or 2bdr and there isn't one available, management has always been able to find an owner willing to rent a larger unit locking out the rooms we don't need)
Thanks for the replies. So the studio room at El Cantil is a corner unit. which says one balcony is city view and the other is ocean view. I doubt that it can be much of an ocean view though. I'm leaning towards El Cantil but now am concerned of the view. I'll be solo this trip so really don't want to pay for a one bedroom if I don't have to. Thanks again for the advice.
The room is a studio and you really can't call the balcony a balcony since I doubt if it's wide enough for a chair. The ocean view is partial at best, more of a view of the south tower but you should be able to see part of the pool area, the pick up pier and the ocean. We love El Cantil but you need to look at the larger condo units to get the full El Cantil experience.
The studio is the "lockout" room in a 3 bedroom unit and the only room without great view. You may actually have someone staying in what would be a the 2 bedroom unit that it is a part of. Your view would be onlyif you looked to the left, Cheraui would be your more direct view. You might try VRBO for a better rate on a 2 bedroom unit. If a view important, I would check out Blue Angel. It's a great price for a great view.
otherwise I would probably choose Casa Mexicana great location, clean, nice view if you get an ocean view room and in town near the pier and restaurants.....have fun

I've got a Caribbean soul I can barely control and some Texas hidden here in my heart. JB
The Casa Mexicana offers three types of accomadations. Regular room , room with city view, and ocean view with terrace. I noticed on Orbitz's that that regular room is about 57/night and the ocean view around 103/night. I guess it all depends on your budget.
Best option El Cantil 1-2 bedroom, next best Casa Mexicana, then Bahia (my choice as I'm on a budget).
Thank you all so much for the recommendations. I'm going with a one bedroom at El Cantil ( actually a 2 bedroom with one locked out) for 4 days and the Presidente for 3. I'm hoping to get as much diving in as I possibly can. Now I just hope there are some afternoon and night dive players.
