I just got back from staying 10 days at the Occidental Allegro, and diving with Aqua Safari and Prodive Mexico.
First, the weather was awesome, over 30/85 everyday with sun and frequent night rains. The resort was great, I had an amazing time, and have already started planning for a return trip next year.
While I was there, I dove Cedral Wall, Columbia Deep, Punta Dalia, La Francesca and a few others, I did a night dive at La francesca, and I highly recommend doing a dive with Prodive at night, there were 5 of us, super small group, and a great experience I will never forget.
My wife and I, at Cedral wall
A school of yellow tails at Cedral Wall
A turtle surfacing for a breath of air
Another Turtle
Can never have too many turtle pics
A ray staying low at Columbia Deep
Can you spot the Octopus we seen at La Francesca at night? Hint...look on the right of the coral formation
Another Lobster show
Night dive crab
Columbia deep
A nice coral formation
All in all a great trip, water in upper 20's. My 3 mil suit was great. Lots of sun, and lots of fish
Thanks for the review. Would you recommend Allegro? Non-divers im trying to talk into like the looks of its beach. Any chance of a few pros and cons.
BTW, go Pens!
Hey
I would recommend Allegro, the beach was fantastic, I was asked a question by someone I subjected to the slide show last night( were the beach chairs a fight for?) and the answer was no, there was always beach spots. Sometimes the line up for drinks at the beach bar was a bit slow moving, but it was super clean and has a great swimming area.
There are quite a bit of stuff for the non diver, the beach volleyball was very popular. OUt of the 4 that I was there with, one did not dive, and she had a good time also
I recently visited the Allegro(Nov/Dec 2011) and would 2nd the beach, food, bar, and activities. My Wife does not dive and she loves going with me to Cozumel when we stay at the Allegro. You can revisit a trip report I did back in December but I would also give 2 thumbs up for Pro-Dive and the wonderful Divemasters that work there
My wife likes Allegro because of the beach. The beach is better at Allegro than most of the resorts. Depending on the time of the year the chairs on the beach do fill up fast. One side note, we have learned to take our own (much larger beverage containers) because the line at the beach bar does move slow sometimes. I wish the food was better at Allegro, but it is what it is. We eat dinner in town a lot so not that big of deal.
