Great dives for first day. Water temp 84. I was fine with skins..but no sun and I got cool on SI.Others wore 3mm shorty, swimsuit and rash guard, full length 3mm and one gal was in skins,a 5mm full length, hood, and gloves. I would suggest at least a 3mm shorty and maybe a full length for most divers. It's good to be wet again.

Cold tolerances vary greatly with individuals, and even for an individual at times, but women generally chill easier. One reason for that is they tend to air dry their hair on boats. If you wear a hat or cap, you stay warmer. You're going to wash it again in the room anyway.
You can test the tanks you breathe or - dive on hope.
    Testing is safer...

Great news for vacation divers who cannot talk themselves into buying a personal CO tank tester!

And guys don't???? Or are you saying most guys don't have hair to 'air dry'?

Generally not as much hair to act as an evaporation cooler, as well as more likely to wear a cap.

I've been diving in a rashguard and shorts for the last week, water 84-86. Last dive for the trip was a night dive last night Everyone has different tolerances, but it's pretty warm diving Today we had clouds and a big shower around noon, so I'm guessing surface intervals and boat rides might have been a little chilly....

Same here..I'm fine with skins..but you hate to recommend them to others. They should at least bring wetsuits. It did get cool on the SI today because of no sun. Once I removed the skins and got dry(without drying my hair) I was fine. I'll keep ya posted.

Alert! If this statement was at all interesting, uh - I am learning from mistakes, and there is more to this story...

Those are like $50-75 at a dealership, but I found some new ones for like $7 & Up, free shipping, on Ebay. I just ordered the Pad for $4 as that's all I need I think, and I already had new batteries: 6 for a buck. You might take him one if you can get the exact make & model.
It seems that a lot of Sellers are listing Cases & Pads - that do not contain the circuit board or any electronics. I cannot imagine why anyone would want to buy one of those, but there are a lot of listings like that. The one I ordered should be in soon and will go back immediately.

There are real FOBs that include everything needed: case, pad, electronic board, battery - and I am ordering one for my daughter as she only has one. Looks like I can get a good used one for $10-20 depending on how the bidding goes. I see 5 closing in the next few days and I want to get that ordered early enough to be here by next Friday. I will replace the battery as I get those 6/$1.

Otherwise I think I am okay on the replacement pad I ordered. Those can be found for under $4, easy to replace, so there is just no reason in carrying a FOB with the symbols rubbed out.

i wear / bring a full skin and a skin hood. i don't tan i just burn and blister, skin is for making a suit easy to put on, off and sun protection. on top of that i wear a 3 mm farmer john and shorty if i need core insulation.. mostly the suit is for protection from anything i may drift into..

meet and greet looks like fun unless i get lost i will try and make it on the 21st. a little over 2 weeks till fly time now. and yes im already packing , repacking and weighing my bags.

dumb question i have 2 bags i want to cary on. a normal 20 inch cary on bag 25lbs. and a 18x6x14 hard camera case. flying delta i know the 20 inch is ok but they dont note the size of the 2nd bag you can take on. anyone think that may be an issue? its been 6 years since i last been on a plane and im not sure.
logged dives? ah i have no clue. from 1996 to 2006 i did not log my dives unless it was something new. and i lost my 2nd log book.. moving from CT to TX

Good plan. Never use sun block when diving unless it is biodegradable as most are bad for coral.

Two great dives today. Big green eels and 'lil spotted ones. Saw one of the biggest octopi ever.I'm still comfortable in skins..water temp 84. Reefs are looking good..lots of juvie fish and healthy coral. Sue Sue arrives tomorrow to enjoy the scenery and bask in the sun.
Does anyone know what makes a small sand hill -like structure about 4-5 inches tall and then has a worm-like thingy made of sand on top? We disrupted the worm like thingy and nothing was there...but something obviously made the structure.
