You can get a pretty good idea of the far north shark dive by going to Utube and search for

"La Siesta del Tiburon3"

Last half is better.

I know that dive gloves are prohibited in the Marine Park, but since the northern sites are outside of the Marine Park, are gloves permitted? I don't have any objection to diving without gloves, but I'd sure want the extra protection if I were spearing lionfish.

yes, you can wear gloves outside the Park ... knives too! (fancy chicken dance)

They are permitted. Nobody cares what gear you use outside the marine park. For some sites (such as Barracuda and Cantarel) they're highly recommended, since at Barracuda you might need to pull up the wall and at Cantarel the usual way to watch Spotted Eagle Rays as they glide past is to find a handhold on the hard bottom and grab on to keep yourself in one spot.
