Looking for good diver/non-diver resort in Coz..

I am about to get my OW certification in the next couple of months. Have been listening to boyfriend Jay_SMART_Diver obsess about diving for the past six months. You know what they say, If you can't get them to shut up....join 'em. Unfortunately I won't have enough experience to go with him on a trip to the Flower Gardens at the beginning of March. So, I'm hoping that by this summer he will have drug me out on enough dives that I would be ready for Cozumel. The only thing is, is that I would like to make it a trip for a whole group of our friends that will be 50/50 diver non-diver. I was wondering if there was a good all-inclusive resort in Coz that would allow a great time for all of us. Thanks! :profile:

I've been down to Coz a couple of times and stayed each time at Hotel Cozumel. It's fairly decent hotel with quite a few amenities. Dive boats come right to the hotel's dock to pick you up in the morning for diving, so it's nice and convenient. Lots to do at the hotel and it's a short cab ride or 15 minute walk to town.

    Welcome to the board. :10:

I would suggest that you check the Cozumel forum. This topic has been discussed a LOT, and in fact I think there is a current thread now.

There are also a LOT of very good COZ webpages where you can check out the options. Here is one of the MAIN sites that provides a LOT of information.

The problem of course is that everything SOUNDS GREAT, so that is where the experinece from the group can play a big role.

We are going back to Cozumel in May and will be going with another couple who do not dive. We decided to go back to the Reef Club. It is all inclusive, very laid back and has Sand Dollar Sports Diving on site.

    Cozumel

The Intercontinental El Presidente is a great place for divers/non-divers. My wife and our college age daughter and I spend Xmas week there. I am the only diver---everybody lived it. I suggest foregoing the "all-inclusive", mainly because there are so many excellent restaurants in the nearby town which are an inexpensive $6-7 cab ride from the El Presidente. Check out the Cozumel sub forum for Mexico for details. Also, "Fodors.com" and "Frommers.com" have very good restaurant guides for Cozumel.

I 2nd the Reef Club for a larger crowd, just make sure the dive op will pick you up at their dock if you do not dive with Sand Dollar on site.

I have been to the Allegro by Occidental. It is an all inclusive resort that is a great place for both divers and non divers alike. They have a dive shop and the dive boats dock right there at the resort. As far as non-divers go, there is plenty to do and the place is nice for a 3-4 star. They have nightly shows put on by the staff and a few decent resturaunts. I am loooking to take my family back there in May.

    Good luck and have fun.
