We are going to Samana, Dominican Republic by cruise ship later this month and need some dive shop recommendations. We haven't found much close by and are hoping someone has a suggestion?
We found a dive excursion on shoretrips.com.... but the taxi ride is 50 minutes from the cruise pier. Definitely hoping to find something closer!

Thanks for your suggestions!!

Your best bet is to forget diving in Samana, the water is not blue, the reefs are not pretty. Samana is not Caribbean diving. Samana is in a Bay, off the Atlantic Ocean, so you'd be diving in a bay, not the ocean even.

Where is the 50 mile ride to?

Thanks for the reply- It appears the 50 minute ride is to Las Terrenas...Do you know if it's worth it or is there anything closer?

Las Terrenas is good, but if you can find diving in Las Galeras, I would say that's better and closer. Las Terrenas is about an hour's drive, and has blue water. Las Galeras is also about 45 minutes away, and you'd be diving in blue water.

If you're really interested in diving while you're there... do that.
