This upcoming week..... I have only 1 day to dive in the bahamas, do not have any idea of a dive shop or dive site to experience, since I only get 1 day, I want to make a good choice, Any suggestions besides, dive more days! I know...Looking to enjoy this, even if it is 1 day,
Thank You!

Cruising?

On Nassau your best bet is Stuart Cove's. They pick up at the cruise port and their schedules work the best. If you book thru the cruise, they're who you'll be using. They do wreck/reef/wall dives near their south side location. Also the famous shark dives. Those are later in the afternoon so will depend on when your ship sails. If you decide on Freeport, use UNEXSO. Dolphin & Scuba Diving Activities & More! They do it all, wall, reef, wreck, shark and dolphin dives. Again depends on your timeframe. About 4-5miles from the cruise port in Port Lucaya - if you're traveling with non-divers that's probably a better place to look around. I believe you need to get to UNEXSO on your own from the cruise port. Freeport is kind of seedy.

Cristina works at UNEXSO in case you can fit a shark dive in:

Theo's is a good wreck dive also.

I second what diversteve said...

Additionally, there is a $10 round trip mini-van that will take you from the port terminal to Port Lucaya and will drop you off at the Casino. UNEXSO is maybe a 1/4 mile or less up the street. If you ask nicely they may drop you off right at UNEXSO but you have to make it on your own back to the Casino to be picked up. The last van leaves the casino around 4pm so usually the shark dive is out of the question if you are using this service to get back to the ship.

If you are taking your own gear you may want to consider a wheeled bag because the walk from the ship to the transportation area is not a short distance.

Independent cabs will be expensive unless you share with a few people going to Port Lucaya.

Enjoy your dives!

Can anyone confirm that you still have to get to UNEXSO on your own from Carnival cruise ships in Freeport?

Check the Carnival website, I believe they're the cruise operator so possibly provide transportation to UNEXSO if you book the ship's excursion. I'm sure that costs more. I wasn't on Carnival so IDK what they do. For comparison purposes, a 2-tank dive booked direct thru UNEXSO is $99.

UNEXSO says they do not provide transportation (but they also asked what hotel I would be in after I said in the subject line and body I would be on the Carnival ship). Carnival says (in a generic-sounding reply) transportation is provided to and from all excursions. Still don't know if that means they book the mini-van that takes you to the casino. Since I will have my own gear and I'm not a spring chicken any more, I would like to know but looks like experience will be the only way to know.
