Primer Class with Bob Sherwood - Dutch Springs July 17 & 18

Bob Sherwood will run a Primer class at Dutch Springs, Saturday July 17th - Sunday July 18th.

The GUE primer class is a two day non-certification class working on trim, buoyancy, propulsion techniques and teamwork. This is a great avenue for those of you who told me that you are interested in a Fundamentals class with Bob but cannot commit the time and/or the money for Fundamentals.

I believe it's invaluable to have Bob's eyes on you for two days. I can promise that you will come out of this class with the tools to be a more skilled diver.

Here is a link from the GUE site. GUE Primer | Global Underwater Explorers

Bob can be reached at 607-765-3942.

I should mention that Bob has not listed this class on the GUE website yet but will shortly.

This came out of a conversation I had with Bob when I told him about many recent conversations I've had with local divers interested in better trim, buoyancy and propulsion techniques. You asked for it local divers and Bob is delivering.

I just spoke to Bob and I will be taking this as well. I'm really psyched since I had to put off Fundies last month.

Looks like I'm an official "foreign" member of DNY now too, thanks for letting me in! Looking forward to meeting some of you.

    Cheers,
    Lilla

    just a question on GUE

It seems like you have to basically be equipped ONE way, is that the case or am I misunderstanding.

Meaning must have doubles, bp/w, etc....

You did read the link Sam posted, right?

Here it is again: GUE Primer | Global Underwater Explorers

The Primer course can be done in singles or doubles. Yes, a BP/W is required, but I'm sure Bob could arrange a rental/loaner. The class will cover why GUE finds a BP/W to be preferable to other styles of BCs.

If you have any specific questions, your best bet might be to contact Bob directly.

    Good luck!

Why would you want to dive any other way, LOL

But seriously, it is much easier to get into trim with a BP/W. Plus, you dont get the squeeze of your diaphragm and lungs when you inflate your BP like you do with a jacket BC (as a few DNYers witnessed a few weeks ago).

I currently dive a bp/w, but am switching to ccr shortly. I am just waiting for it to arrive. Haven't seen mention of those on GUE site so that is partly what I am asking but also asking in general.
