I might even do the D M thing, myself, if only to keep wet more, if there was anywhere nearby to do so.
I feel for ya Jim.
Problem is.....that other "life" stuff will still need to get done. I have done my best so far to take a slice from every aspect so no one aspect of life takes the full brunt of trying to keep wet once a month or so. I don't know if I would say I have been successful but I have tried.

Life is a beach ... a walk in the sand, a tropical drink, a calypso band!
There's a place, where the boat leaves from. It takes away, all your big problems.
Your worries, you can drop them in the blue ocean. But, you gotta get away to where the boat leaves from.
Everyone needs to believe in something ... I believe I'll go diving.
Good morning, DNY. Enjoyed some birthday celebrations this weekend, I'm surrounded by Geminis. Also went to the NYC BBQ Festival in Madison Square Park....yummiess at every booth, although I only hit three booths before I got full. I had beef rib booth by Blue Smoke, some St Louis pork ribs at another booth which name escapes me and some BBQ pulled pork from yet another unknown booth.
If you've never been it's a great BBQ eating event. You can try ribs from so many different vendors locally and from around the country.

Never a dull moment ...
What is the status of the young brown bear, the wild fires and your property?

Thanks.
You're not slipping, you're just riding your Harley and enjoying AB. Are you gonna make it down to Dutch any time this summer? Is Lake George worth an invasion by the goons?

The slip is only temporary until another Frisbee sends me back your way.

We went to the beach last week, and the surf was rough due to the tropical storms that had moved up the coast. Waves were 4-6 feet close to shore, and the undertow was nasty in some areas. We took Cooper out early in the morning, and he was fetching the frisbee. He was fearless. He did get pissed when he was going nowhere at one point due to the undertow, so he kicked it up a notch and swam in. I should have had a camera. It's cool the way he crests the waves on the way out, and body surfs on the way in.
Very impressed with Cooper's swimming skills. I would have loved to see the video of him swimming in the undertow.

Everything seems pretty much under control at the moment
We had a landscaping consultant come out to look at the place this weekend. We would like to try to re-establish more of the native vegetation on our property; apparently the early settlers let the sheep overgraze the land, so the top soil blew away. But it is possible - with some work - to re-establish the native grasses and shrubs. So we will try to do that in the area around the porch.
Other than that, the weekend went with building an archery back-stop. I'm extending the "range" to 30 yards, and figured a larger, solid back-stop would be a good idea So I built it really well (of course ) using 2x6 pressure treated wood, and a 4'x6' cattle rubber mat. I did the build in the barn, since there's shade and tools etc. Trouble is that the completed back-stop is now so heavy, that I simply can't move it ... kinda like building a boat in your basement only to realize you can't get it out of there I'll have to see if I can borrow a cart or trailer, or maybe a truck from a neighbor or something.
I'm diving at Rock Lake this weekend. Didn't get around to fixing a dry glove leak, so I'll probably try diving without gloves. The water is low 60's, so it'll hopefully be ok.

Lake George is a big lake, and a deep lake. Lots of different diving. Where we do some training, and shore diving off Hearthstone Sate Park it is a bit so -so, but it is shore diving. There are several charters available that can take divers to much more interesting sites. For me, it is just a lot closer than DS. I did not purchase a pass for DS this year, figuring I will make it down only a time or two.
I really wanted to join everyone there when Henrik was in town, but as Steve observed, the non diving parts of life get in the way too much.

Sometimes we get so focused on working out a solution to a problem, and so creative, that we fail to step back and look at the whole picture?
Two times (slow learner?) back when we shared a house in the 70's my little brother built motorcycles inside the house, which then would not go through the doorways to get them outside.
Once, in a dirt floored cellar that I could not even stand up in, and the entire front end, and rear wheel had to be removed to carry it up the stairs and make the turn at the top. The second time it was his Triumph chopper, with an extremely long springer that I gave him, and 4 of us had to lower it from the 2nd floor with ropes, as it could not be so easily disassembled and it also could not make the turns required to go threw doors and down stairways.
My little brother is a very good engineer, a smart man, but sometimes I swear he has no spacial aptitude at all.
I can still make him cringe when I remind him of the swinging rope at a particular swimming hole we loved, and he still bears the scars from THAT piece of spacial misjudgement!
