hey all ,
over the last weekend on a dive in the middle of my decent, aprox 55 ft. i was unable to equlize properly one ear it all kinda happened fast , and i felt the salt water squeez into my ear , there was a little bit of pain but not a great amount ( this has happened b4) and a feeling of great dizzyness and head spinning also what sounded like a flushing of water in the ear , none of witch is normal , now i thaught that with in a couple days the water would drain out . but it hasent and the heering in that ear was and still is almost non existent, witch leave me almost deaf beacuse my hearing is limited in the other :)
makes it great when the wife is angry but i think i got to go have it looked at ? and, is there a way to help it from happening agin .
i do equlize often and frequently .

Hi ebbtide,

The symptoms that you describe are very much suggestive of a ruptured ear drum.

As this can be quite serious, it certainly is advisable for you to see an ENT, the sooner the better. And, in the meantime, no more diving.

Equalizing techniques are covered in threads such as this one from the board achives----> http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8789&highlight=equalizing

Best regards.

Hi ebbtide,

A good idea. Hopefully just a small breach that will heal quickly without help. Definitely want to avoid infection.

Best regards.
