I have this problem only when diving in cold water, for some reason (70F or under, approx. - it's cold to *me*, anyways!), and I'm female, for those looking for gender statistics. I only ever noticed it when people pointed it out on the surface, so I can't tell what depth it started at, but since then I've started checking to see if I need to rinse my mask out before anyone sees and freaks out (and it's always the big guys that are freaked out about it, too!), and never noticed blood in warmer water.

That, and I don't get the ear infections in warm salty water, too...good a reason as any, when combined with new airline restrictions, to refuse to go back to Canada...

If it is a nose bleed you may want to check out Neti. Doing a google search should get you all the information you need. Without it I would not be able to dive, with it I barely even have to think about equalizing because it is so easy.

Sorry for not including more information. Neti is a method of saline nasal irrigation. You use a little pot to pour warm saline solution(salt water) in one nostril and out the other. It does a very good job of cleaning out your sinuses which makes equalizing much easier. It also helps with most allergy and sinus problems.

Diving Girl, I did not have time to plow through all the jokes and crap. So, if this post is redundant just disregard. Have you been pregnant at any time? Did you suffer from varicose veins? Anyway, all that aside, your problem may be weak tissue walls of the capillaries possibly caused by collagen defect. There is a simple remedy that works for many. Go to a "health supplement" store and purchase a quantity of bilberry extract or grapeseed extract. Take a couple caps and call me in the morning (joking). Continue with this regimen daily. You should notice improvement in a week. If after two weeks there is no improvement then you should look for the cause and remedy elsewhere. However, my guess is that the anthrocyanidins in these extracts will effect an improvement to your condition.

For this and the spider veins, does it matter if it's bilberry + gingko? I've seen the two combined here, and more brain function never hurt anyone...
