There is a shop operated quarry not that far from my hometown that I'd like to dive, but I have heard from many other divers that they often come out of that quarry with ear infections.

Is there a safe way (besides purchasing one of those "pro-ear" masks) that will prevent an ear infection but won't interfere with equalizing?

Since there is no way to prevent water getting in your ears-other than a "pro-ear" mask, the goal is to dry out the ear after they have beeen exposed to the water- and here is the best recipe courtesy of my wife the M.D.

Equal parts of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Mix together in a glass eye-dropper bottle(at any pharmacy). Put in 4-5 drops after every time you dive, swim, shower, etc. Don't forget the value of the hair dryer in drying out your ears.

Tell your wife thanks for the recipe. I will add it to my dive kit!
