Mackan_olsson , I have also been unfortunate to have a hurnia. and had to have surgery to fix it but suffered no ill effects and was back on my feet quickly.

The first risk that comes to mind is what is referred to as being 'strangulated' which is when a piece of intestine becomes trapped. keep in mind, I am not a doctor, just sharing a little info.
