Help disassembling Dacor D 16

Hi guys, I'm working on servicing my first regulator myself, a Dacor Viper with a D 16 first stage. The viper second stage wasn't bad, but I'm having a little trouble getting the D 16 first stage fully disassembled. I can't seem to remove the poppet seat.

The instructions say to use a special mares tool specifically made for this purpose. I've seen some threads that mention using a pencil with an eraser for this same purpose on other first stages. Can I do that with the D 16? I tried it, and so far no luck. But maybe I'm doing something wrong.

......not all 16's had a removable orifice.
If you have a removable one it is removed from the diaphragm side....no volcano on this side to damage, I usually use an Allen key to push it out.
....the pencil rubber is for installation.
