Hello:

I will be staying at Baddeck, Nova Scotia in July for a few days. Before I haul my dive gear out with me, how close am I to any shore dive sites and dive shops? I will be there from July 5 to 9 and would be interested in a day of diving or a couple of early morning dives. Any information would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Bill

Did you receive a reply to this post? There is lots of excellent diving in the Baddeck/Sydney area, and you are close to two dive shops: ScubaTech (Douglas St., Sydney) and Sydney SCUBA and Marina (Kings Rd., Sydney). If you need info about where to dive, what you will see, or if you need a dive buddy, I suggest you contact ScubaTech 562-6061. It is the hangout for the members of the Nervous Wrecks dive club, lots of experienced people, instructors, whatever. And they have Nitrox, rental gear, books about local dive sites, a magazine corner, you may be able to catch a boat charter too.

I should have mentioned: ScubaTech and the Nervous Wrecks dive club both have websites, with lots of info on diving this area.

Sydney SCUBA and Marina also rents gear, does gear servicing, air fills, and I think can supply a guide (for a fee, of course). Their phone is: 564-5559

There are plenty of good shore dives in the area; I am not the best person to talk with, since I am a new diver, I recommend you call one of the shops or contact the club.

hey god choice of baddeck. i don't think they have a dive shop per say but there is a place to get ur tanks filled it is a marina off to the side of the gov't warff. and ask about the wreck that is off of baddeck bay. wear a full wet suit cause theyre lots of jelly fish. the wreck is close to the surface so be careful when approaching by boat. i have only seen it from above water but it is in pretty good shape i beleive.

enjoy
