The reason that the valve is on the right is that I installed it there, since there was an ugly scar from the removal of a manufacturer's patch (label) right in that location - and it was recommended that I put the valve there to get rid of the scar. Sounded like a good idea at the time. The suit was surplus from a contract order - its made by Action Plus, and is the same as the current Voyage model, with slightly different boots. (see http://www.action-plus.com). The inside label and outside patch were removed for sale of the suit as surplus. I got a new suit, new Viking (Si-tech) valves, new hose, valve glands and a can of cement (for less than the cost of valves alone).
Anyway, I'm wondering if I will get hassled by the instructor when/if I take a dry suit course, and if there is indeed a legitimate reason for having the valve on the left instead of right.
