Jet Style Fin (short and wide)

For mostly a dry diver, is there a preference for brand and model? Don't like too heavy, always try to purchase higher quality. I know fins are all opinions and I am looking for opinions. I mostly dive the Apollo Bio Pro splits but on occasion need something for kicks that a split fin can't do. Also current issues with split fins.

I would get the Cressi Reaction. They are a great blade fin and are really durable. I got mine back in 2005 and was living in Mexico doing 5 dives a day for about 3 year, and I never once rinsed my fins or took care of them and they are still in great shape. I love the Cressi Reactions.

If you want a great solid fin get either of the following: Scubapro Jets or XS Scuba Turtle fins, Hollis F1 is a good fin that has good reviews never tried or the OMS Slipstream. Those fins seem to be in the same area the "Seem to be" more popular are the Jets/turtles. For the cressi I owned those fins and they were horrible for me. My legs would get tired very easilly in them and I didnt feel I got anything out of the kicks Once I tried out the Turtles completly different. My G/F had the same experince between her fins and once she tried the Jets during a Finning clinic she walked out the store with them they make that much of a differnce for us at least. And ading the Spring straps are really nice and make putting the fin off/on really easy

I loved my Mares Avantis, but when I got my drysuit I just wanted a little more weight on my feet so I could fine tune my trim with leg position more. I've got some Jets that I like okay, but the fit's not great (XL too small, XXL way to big). One of my buddies is big into the Dive Rite fins, if you're looking for something lighter.

OMS Slipstreams and ScubaPro Jets are the same shape and area, Jets are made of heavy material, Slipstreams are made of much lighter material. I own a pair of both. -use spring heels.

Suggestion: start with a pair of OMS Slipstreams since you mentioned you didn't want to go too heavy. Try someone else's paddle fins before you sink the bux into fins and spring heels. -they aren't for everyone.

Since you also mentioned you do a lot of dry diving, try this:
On the surface, deflate until your head is just above water, roll onto your back and do a really powerful straight-leg flutter kick. Do same with splits. Decide for yourself if they're worth it. Again, not for everybody...

aquaregia, the idiots fixed that. Get a pair of XX-LARGE, not the same as XXL's. Bottom line: Bring your drysuit and try them on. (always)

With turbo soles, I can use large fins, with Rockboots, I need XL. I do love my Bio FinPro C with stainless springs (would not go without springs) and the weight is perfect. Like I said, they are not for all types of diving but most of the diving I do. A comparable weight would be nice.

I've been diving the Dive Rite EXP fins for the last little while -- they have a foot pocket similar to the L Jets (maybe just a wee bit bigger) but about a 2 inch longer blade. I get a lot more power out of them than the Ls, and I couldn't dive the XLs because the foot pocket was just too big. The DR fins are lighter than Jets, but I didn't make any changes in weight distribution when I changed to them; apparently, I can move enough air around the dry suit to make up the difference.

I am also looking for the "perfect Fin", still have yet to find, but when I do I guarantee it will have spring straps.

I used Scubapro Jetfin for wetsuit. When I have moved to dry suit my feet size was between two Jetfin sizes (you know, that huge XXL from last years, that they now fixed). Because of that, I purchased a pair of Hollis F1 fins. Compared to jetfins, their surface scratches more easier, but except for that they are rock solid. The foot socket fits me better and I like them a lot.
