    Problem with Mask

    Hi,

I've problem with masks. Usually it feels okay wearing it, but after awhile during a dive, the mask will shift up and the seal at my nose ends up at my nostrils. Thus I think it is not properly seal and water goes in during dives. After my dives, water will clogged inside my nose and it starts to drip down from my nose if i bend down. Though it is not much of a problem, but during dives I get irritated by it and will adjust it every 5-10mins. Even after making the straps at the back tighter, the mask will still shift underwater.

Anyone knows what's the problem and any mask to recommend to solve it?

mask 'tightness' isn't the issue, it's probably that you don't have your mask strap 'level' with your mask. If your mask strap is 'high' on the back of your head it will pull the front of the mask upwards.

I would try to put the mask strap lower on your head that way it will not pull the mask up.

Just curious but what type / brand is your mask?

Your mask will seal against the face
lightly, with minimal distortion of the
    skirt

    When you exhale, through your
nose, air will pass easily past the
    skirt

    When you inhale, through nose
    the mask must immediately seal
bringing the glass closer to your
    eyeballs

Allow for hood or hair bun
    when adjusting your strap

Initially I was wearing it with the straps leveled. After it keeps shifting upwards, I pulled the strap higher. So I doubt either situation helps.

Sorry, I'm not too use, rented it from a dive shop for the dives only.

I wasn't wearing any hood at the point of dive, when I try to breathe in or out underwater, the mask will shift up too.

Sit on couch watching The Simpsons
    or a later Modern Family.

    Relax

    Breathe through nose

Breathe through nose with mouth closed

Breathe through nose with mouth open

Pinch nose shut: Valve inside should be closed
    disabling breathing mechanism

Open valve in throat: Commence mouth breathing, still with nose pinched shut

Make Ahhhhhhh sound will open valve
in throat with nose pinched shut.

Like for out of air going up emergency.

    Get a mask

    Hold mask lightly to face

    Breathe through mouth

    No fog? No nose breathing.

    Hold mask lightly to face
    no strap

    Take deep breath

    Inhale through nose creating seal

    Inhale through nose creating seal
    with mouth open

Stand up and walk around around house maintaining seal until out of breath

    with mouth open

    Be ready to catch mask
