Hate to post this on such a sad day, but I (and two other friends) just completed my Basic Cave course over the weekend, and I'm just so excited to be a cave diver (even just a baby one), that I want to shout it to the world. I went yesterday morning with a Full Cave buddy to Peacock, and there we did a victory dive. It was awesome!
My thanks to our awesome instructor, Dan Patterson. He is an extraordinary diver, a great instructor, a super polite and nice guy, and he has to have the patience of a saint for dealing with us for two days! I highly recommend him.
Now I look forward to s-l-o-w-l-y developing good skills and becoming a good cave diver.

You might want to read my friend and fellow classmate's post about the course and the weekend, and pause to reflect on the complexities thereof! All 3 of us feel very comfortable in OW, different settings, but man, we felt like newbies in that setting.

Amen to that, dive buddy! I love the OW students I get to work with as a DM. After taking this cave course its easier to remember how it feels to be a brand-new OW student. I will have more patience with our students and work harder to help them get comfortable with their skills.
"Sometimes I wonder if I really did drown in Atlantida... At any rate, the incident certainly makes accepting the disappointments of life easier. After all, I could be floating lifeless in a volcanic blue hole on Lanzarote instead of dealing with the problems of life." - Sheck Exley
