I know there will be a few of us traveling down to attend this great event put together and hosted by Sheri Daye. She again has put together a very impressive line up of speakers. Dimitris Kollias, Dan MacMahon, Dr. Daryl Wong, Tom Mount, Ray Powell, Dr. Terry Maas, Michael C. Barnette, Dr. Neal Pollock, Tom Greene, Bill Kyser, Rob Darmanin, Jay Riffe, Chip Bissel, Mark Laboccetta, Lt. Dave Bingham, Del Wren, Julie Riffe, Chad Carney, Roger Yazbeck, Stephen Metcalf, Don Delmonico, Julie Richardson, Dave Earp, Vern Oscarson, Maria Rittiner, Ron Mullins, David Wirth, Mihalis Catapotis, and Andy Ansin.
Please visit the Official 2009 Blue Wild Ocean Adventure Seminar & Expo Website (The Blue Wild Spearfishing Seminar and Expo) for more information on the speakers, lodging, tickets, exhibitors, and all the great sponsors.
I hope many of you will make plans to attend this great event!
Mike thanks for posting about The Blue Wild. I can't wait for the event, especially the kickoff party! There will be food, music, and most importantly beer (Presidente Beer is the official beer sponsor). It will be fun just to meet everyone, check out the vendors, and relax in a party atmosphere. We'll have to knock down a few beers!
I hope a lot of Scuba Boarder's will be able to attend the party & expo (I know HowardE & Muggsy will be there helping out with the beer). Sheri has expanded the expo to cover much more than spearfishing. I don't want to list all the speaker topics because I'll leave some out, but here are the ones that come to mind... dive fitness, dive emergencies, photography, survival at sea, survival psychology, spearfishing, lobster diving, hook & line fishing, breath hold diving, wrecks, intro to spearfishing, etc, etc.
Steve Callahan is the speaker that I'm looking forward to the most. His book Adrift is my favorite book. The book is about how he survived 76 days at sea, alone in a small rubber raft. A truly incredible story!
Hey I hope to see everyone there. It will be one big party!
Cool lineup. If I'm not diving I'll try to make it.
Some of those guys and gals are truly pioneers in their respective fields.
Athough I don't know about those guys Dave Earp and Mike Barnette
Sheri must have been desperate to fill the last few spots.
In all honesty, it is an honor to be included with so many great speakers and at the same time it is a little intimidating. At times I think to myself "These speakers are the who's who of diving and I'm just an old lobster diver. What the heck am I going to say to interest the audience after they hear the other presentations?"
Then, on the other hand, I know that I'll need to work very hard to put together a professional, informative presentation. And that is what I will do. So please wish me luck!
You guys'll do great.Just tell the truth about what you did and do,that's more impressive than theory and advice any day.Although Sheri is much better to look at you guys have stories no one else can tell.
I know what it's like to be the minnow in a school,my part-time boss has been commercially spearfishing for close to 50 years and is a legend on the East Coast. He named a lot of the wrecks and ledges I dive,he found them dead reckoning or with LORAN A. Just listening to the old guys talk about the history of diving is cool.
