    Ginnie ?

Was planning on going to Key Largo this weekend from Gainesville but the high gas prices and my van's poor gas mileage has put a stop to that (I sure do miss my compact car). So, I've decided to go ahead and dive Ginnie this weekend instead. Having never dove in a spring before, I would appreciate some helpful tips. What are the temps generally like? Would a 3 mil full be enough or do I need more? Lights? Necessary equipment? Only an OW cert diver, is that good enough? Thnx for the help, y'all.

A search of this forum would be a great place to start.

Water temp is 72F all year long, and thermal comfort is up to you. OW cert is fine for the Ginnie head spring, and the Devils System OW springs. This will also let you dive the cavern at the headspring, if you are comfortable. You will definetly need a light for that, however, you can not take them in the Devils system springs unless you have at least a cavern cert.. Check out http://www.ginniespringsoutdoors.com for more info.
