Hi, I am going to be in Destin next weekend (10-15 and 10-16) and was wondering if anyone had information on possible conditions and/or operators in the area.

I saw a few posts about Red Tide creeping up the panhandle. Is there a forecast for the Destin area?

Thanks, -Frank

I just got back from Destin yesterday. The Red Tide is there, but is starting
to go away. Depending on the beach area, some was murky and some
were clear. I'd say by next week you'll be much better.

If the Red Tide is still bad and you need to dive, head up to Vortex for
the Vortoberfest ScubaBoard Dive weekend. It's about an hour north
of Destin. See this thread. http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=106882&page=1&pp=40

Someone posted in the Dixie Diver forum that the red tide had dispersed or moved out of Panama City Beach, so hopefully Destin will clear up if it hasn't already.

I normally go with ScubaTech when I dive Destin, but I've heard lots of good reports from people who go out with Emerald Coast Scuba.

Seas have been relatively flat off the beach and in protected bays, but I hear its pretty bumpy offshore.

I second Emerald Coast Scuba. The people there are wonderful. We were just in Destin a couple months ago. They took excellent care of us!!
