Hi, I will be coming down to Delray Beach in the first part of May. Is the diving in that area good or would it be better to drive down to the keys. There are six of us from Utah and a couple of them have never been to Florida to dive. I want them to have a great experience. Thanks for any suggestions or info.

Welcome to SB. You might want to post your question in the Florida Conch Divers Forum for a better response. Good luck.

Welcome to ScubaBoard. Yeah, check out the Florida Board.

Welcome to the board. I dive the Delray/Boca area several times a year. I love it. Uncrowded, unspoiled (for the most part) and reasonable.

When I first learned to dive in the early 70's Boca and Delray were my regular tromping grounds. Of course that was before all the beach front property got bought up. You used to be able to pull over on the side of the road and walk right in. And some of the spots actually had fresh water shower stands so that you could rinse off after your dive. This was all shore diving though. Those on-shore shallow reefs used to be crawling with little critters and there was a group of us who had large marine aquariums.

Just seeing this post brings back some fabulous memories. I was diving 4 - 5 days a week back then. Talk about the good old days ...

OK, back to work !!
