70-80 foot viz,6 inch seas, 76-77 degree water( cold for me)
The highlights of the dive were, the free swimming green moray, blacktip reef shark being harassed by 20-30 bar jacks. We swam(scooters) with the black tip for about 10 minutes. Nurse shark and black tip together for a quick minute. 3-4 sting rays. Many types of grouper and the usual 1000 reef fish.

I hope the weather holds for the people on vacation.

Molasses is the most popular reef in Key Largo.

Cheers.

Is there a particular reason it's called Molasses Reef?

Maybe a ship carrying molasses went down nearby?

The schools of fish are thick as molasses.

Man I wish I was down there right now, it looks like its going to be nice for a few more days. Enjoy. Where are you putting your boat in at?? Deeper Thoughts

Yep, fantastic reef. You'll hear a ton of talk about the reefs in Cozumel, but they don't come close to reef system out of Key Largo when it comes the volume and variety of marine life. We dove Snapper Ledge this past June and we were surrounded by so many fish we could barely see each other, or the seven nurse sharks, multitude of lobsters and several rays. Just an outstanding 60 minute dive.
