Nice finds! Do you dive solo over there ?
I am a solo diver. I dive solo everywhere :D (unless I have buddies). I generally dive solo at VB even with buddies (unless I'm sure they need a buddy - Occasionally they do).

My max depth on this 3 hour dive was 17' and average was 15' on a steel 100. I got a little cold at the end, so I ended the dive at 3 hours and 1 minute. VB is a definite no-stress dive when the seas are calm... It's just you, your bubbles, and the occasional blue striped Grunt noise (Oh, and lately... flounders making their move to get away)

I also stopped and watch one of the biggest Sea Horses I've ever seen there. I moved on it with my finger for a sec... I thought it was dead at first, but it was just resting there...

3 hours on an a HP 100? That's pretty damn good!

Not so much when they pump it to near 4000 psi... no current at all... very little movement (maybe 100 yds long and 50' wide over that time period)... and water temps in the 80s (no wetsuit)

Very nice finds. I dove Venice Beach on Memorial day and did okay. I only got one 2 inch Meg though. I heard that Alhambra produces more Megs on average. Are you doing any digging underwater or are you finding them right on the gravel? Thanks.

Thanks...

There isn't much from Venice Beach itself. Go to Alhambra or further south to Service Club Park. Both places have more teeth than will be found at VB itself...

No digging, eventually they find their way to the surface ground... found on sand, found on gravel equally. When I find the larger ones, they are usually (for me anyway) found near the bone yards (areas of sand, but with lots of fossil bones in the area) The closest I do to digging is turning up some of the bones, and I haven't had any luck finding anything under them.

My general opinion is that the more time you put in over there, the better your chances of finding a/several megs. I have weeks of diving and no megs to show for it.

I recently got multi-focal contact lenses. I can see everything underwater now. Before February, I had to stay off the gravel. Everything was a little fuzzy to view, and I couldn't make out the teeth on the gravel.
