a friend of mine has been planning to go scuba diving during his Florida trip this weekend but has run into problems. First his dad passed away so he spent a couple grand on plane tickets. His daughter had to have emergency surgery so that cost some money. He used to be certified a long time ago and has done a discover scuba and he wants to get back in it. Is there anyway he could do some diving without having to take the class again?
My first question would be is your friend certified or did they just take a discover scuba class.
If they have gone thru the entire course and have a certification card and are on record with the certification agency and it hasn't been over a year since they dove, then the answer is yes.
If it's been over a year then we require the first dive to be with an instructor and if it's over two years then a full refresher is required. That's standard with most dive shops.
If they took a discover scuba diving class within the last year they and the certification agency has a record of them ov file then they would not have to go thru the class again, but would still have to dive with an instructor.
Hope this helps and if you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
